Center for Place-Based Initiatives

The purpose of this corporation is to provide community economic development services. Within the context of the general purpose stated above, this corporation shall:1.   Research and publish data on under-invested communities as potential opportunities for place-based initiatives; 2.   Promote and facilitate the deployment of greater and more diverse forms of investment and philanthropic capital into under-invested communities;3.   Support and deliver technical assistance to nonprofit and community organizations in order to increase local infrastructural capacity to receive and direct greater and more diverse forms of investment and philanthropic capital;4.   Facilitate creation of neighborhood networks and intermediary relationships to support place-based initiatives; and5.   Advance notions of place-based community economic development, social investment, and market-oriented philanthropy via publication in academic, industry and scientific periodicals.
