Mission Update from Slovakia: From April 6 to 9, a group of young Divine Word Missionary priests from across Slovakia met in Ružomberok, organized under the leadership of Father Peter Dušička SVD. The participants dedicated themselves to prayer, fraternity and deepening the formation of their missionary vocation. They also participated in the Stations of the Cross and in the celebration of the Eucharist at the University Pastoral Center in Ružomberok, where a new Divine Word community recently was established. The gathering commemorated the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Society of the Divine Word as well as the priestly ordination of St. Joseph Freinademetz. Also highlighted was the legacy of the society’s first bishop, Johann Baptist Anzer (1851– 1903), one of the pioneers of missionary work in China. (fb)
