History

The organization's history begins with Frank Roughton Harvey, who re-dedicated his life to Christ in 1957 with the vision of creating an outdoor drama. After leaving professional theater, Harvey moved to Cambridge with his wife, Hazel, where they found a farm suitable for an amphitheater. In 1975, with the help of local volunteers, the first performance of the Living Word Outdoor Drama was held. By 1977, the organization had become a non-profit corporation.

Mission

The mission of Living Word Outdoor Drama Inc. is to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ through outdoor productions and to enrich the local community through cultural and economic contributions. The organization aims to educate audiences about live theater and provide free training to volunteers in various aspects of theater production, including acting, technical work, and event management.

Productions

The drama takes place on a 400-foot panoramic set designed by Frank Roughton Harvey to resemble Old Jerusalem. The production begins with the Sermon on the Mount and concludes with the Ascension, offering a dramatic portrayal of Christ's life and ministry. The organization also hosts other family-oriented events and programs.
