As the semester wraps up, we’re sending a heartfelt thank-you to Sam and Evan, our incredible social work interns from West Chester University of PA! This spring, they brought compassion, curiosity, and commitment to the team at RHD Genny’s Place—and we’re so grateful they chose to share their time and talents with us. 🌟 Sam reflected: “Working with RHD has given me incredible insight into the amount of work and effort that goes into rehousing people. As an intern, I was able to see the intake process, the facilitation of services such as social security or SNAP applications, and how each member of RHD works toward getting the best services and assistance possible for anyone who came through the program.” 🌟 Evan shared: “Interning at RHD was such a fun experience for me, the members I worked with were great. One thing I learned at RHD is that social work carries a big responsibility—you’re entrusted with someone’s well-being, and that’s a powerful position. We're incredibly proud to see our RHD A-Team program featured in the latest Local Progress blog post! The article highlights how LP members met with RHD A-Team to learn the inner workings of our program operations and even got a behind-the-scenes look at the 911 dispatch center. RHD A-Team is a pilot program partnered with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, using the Alternative Response Model of mobile crisis intervention. We act as a fourth emergency service, with our team of mental and behavioral health professionals providing compassionate care to quickly assist individuals in crisis. Our mission is to guide people toward the best outcomes, reduce strain on traditional emergency services, and ultimately lessen hospitalizations and incarcerations related to mental and behavioral health issues.
