The Ritz Theater is the last remaining historic theater in the City of Newburgh. Neglect and fire have claimed the others. Our goals for the restoration of the Ritz are to create a venue for live performances, provide employment training and educational opportunities for the residents of the community, and provide a home for local arts and performance groups.Venue for live performance: The restoration of the Ritz Theater will connect Newburghs rich potential with surrounding communities and New York City. Currently, there are very few venues for live performance in Newburgh. The restoration will provide the community with a state-of-the-art theater.Employment training and educational opportunities: We have established a partnership with the Bardavon Opera House/Ulster Performing Arts Center. Staff of both theaters will train residents of the adjacent Cornerstone Residence and members of the community in various capacities, from light and sound operation to box office and administrative
