The American Association of Diabetes Educators, Inc. (AADE) is now known as the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES). This rebranding occurred on January 22, 2020, to better reflect the evolving role of diabetes care and education specialists.
Background
ADCES, formerly AADE, is an interdisciplinary professional membership organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with, at risk for, or affected by diabetes. It focuses on enhancing the understanding, prevention, and management of diabetes through comprehensive education, advocacy, and research.
Mission and Vision
The mission of ADCES is to empower diabetes care and education specialists to expand the horizons of innovative education, management, and support. Its vision is to achieve optimal health and quality of life for persons with, affected by, or at risk for diabetes and chronic conditions.
Services and Initiatives
ADCES offers a range of services, including:
- Diabetes Education Accreditation: As one of two national accrediting organizations for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), ADCES works to ensure that diabetes education programs provide comprehensive, whole-person care.
- Danatech: A comprehensive platform for diabetes technology education, providing tools and resources to help diabetes care and education specialists stay updated on the latest technological advancements.
- Continuing Education: ADCES provides numerous educational opportunities through annual conferences, webinars, and contract programs to help healthcare professionals maintain their credentials and stay informed about current advancements in diabetes care.
- Research and Resources: ADCES publishes several subscription journals and offers practical tools for both healthcare professionals and patients to improve diabetes care and management.
