ITS STILL AMPHIBIAN WEEK!! Did you know that Virginia is joined by more than half of the country with having a state amphibian. The Virginia State salamander is the Northern Red Salamander (Pseudotriton ruber ruber) notably found in the photo courtesy of John White. Spring has other surprises such as the “Red Eft” stage of the Red Spotted Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens) might be around your hiking trails this time of year.
