Northshore Community Alliance

The mission of the NorthShore Community Alliance is that NCA and its partner organizations strengthen families and neighborhoods by providing comprehensive programs and services. Each year, NCA provides services to over 400 families in Allegheny County. Residents and consumers identify and define their needs, and appropriate responses are fashioned collaboratively with NCA's trained family consultants. NCA remains connected to its origins, working with families in need by providing a variety of in-home services and case management to help resolve issues for individuals and families where they most often occur. Historically, NCA has always been involved with addressing the root causes of issues of social division and has partnered with the community, individuals, families and other organizations to help consumers overcome poverty, discrimination and isolation. As the third-largest In Home Crisis service provider for the Allegheny County Department of Human Services Office of Children Youth and Families, NCA provides intensive in-home services to families in crisis with the expressed goal of keeping families together. Additionally, the Organization takes a proactive approach to building healthy communities by offering a wide range of services in education—from safe and nurturing after-school programs for kids to diploma certification and entrepreneur/ business expansion training for adults. It is this unique approach of neighborhood based, community focused services that has allowed NCA for over 116 years to effectively represent and assist the members of the communities in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
