When 77-year-old Navy veteran Billy traveled from Wyoming to Washington, DC with our Voyage of Valor program, he was expecting powerful moments of reflection at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. What he didn’t expect was a group of 5th graders from Tennessee who would change his life—and theirs. Ahead of the trip, students from Idlewild Elementary wrote letters to the veterans, thanking them for their service.
