During World War II, over 33,000 Japanese Americans served in the U.S. military, even while many of their own families were held in incarceration camps. Among them was the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, an all-Japanese American unit that became highly decorated in U.S. history. Their motto? “Go for Broke.” Their impact? Lasting.
