Welcome Charles Parish Chapter NSDAR Poquoson Virginia Our Organizing Regent Kitty OBrien Joyner In 1939 Kitty Joyner was hired by NASA as the first female engineer. The honor came shortly after she became the first woman to graduate from the University of Virginias engineering program. Mrs. Joyner worked for the organization for decades eventually being promoted to the title of Branch Head of the Office of Engineering and Technical Services.
