NATURE OF ACTIVITIES - BROTHERS AND SISTERS EMERGING (B.A.S.E) (THE ORGANIZATION") IS A UNIQUE ORGANIZATION IN THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH IN THAT IT HAS EVOLVED FROM A YOUTH FOOTBALL AND CHEERLEADING PROGRAM INTO A YEAR-ROUND ORGANIZATION OFFERING AFTER-SCHOOL, SUMMER CAMP AND MENTORING PROGRAMS TO YOUTH. WE ALSO OFFER A POST-SECONDARY COLLEGE PREPARATORY AND CAREER EDUCATION PROGRAM. BY TRANSITIONING INTO A FULL-YEAR, VOLUNTEER AND STAFFED PROGRAM, THE ORGANIZATION HAS EVOLVED INTO BUILDING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH ADVOCACY, SOCIAL SUPPORTS AND SPORTS AND EMPOWERMENT. OUR MISSION IS TO STRATEGICALLY ADVOCATE AND CONNECT YOUTH OF PROMISE AND FAMILIES TO LIFE SUSTAINING RESOURCES. WE CONNECT THEM TO RESOURCES THAT ADVANCE THEM SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY, EDUCATIONALLY AND ECONOMICALLY.

BASE – Brothers and Sisters Emerging Building positive relationships through Advocacy Social supports and sports and Empowerment Education Programming Our afterschool and summer camp programs offer mentoring tutoring cultural and educational activities recreation and parent information yearround and serve approximately 150 youth annually. YouthSports Annually over 250 male and female youth participate in Garfield Youth Sports which offers football cheerleading and basketball programs for youth ages 7 through 17. GirlsGroup Our Girls Group serves young ladies ages 10 to 14 with activities such as arts crafts health wellness leadership character development cultural enrichment gardening fitness and academic enhancement. MentoringProgram Gatorway Male Mentoring serves as a vehicle to enhance and assist with the personal development and character building of youth living in and around challenging communities.
