Celebrating Maya Angelou's remarkable life and legacy though service to youth and communities To celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Maya Angelou throughout the state of Arkansas; while educating Arkansas about her contributions to her childhood home of Arkansas, and to the world. Utilizing her "Still I Rise" poem as a blueprint to help youths discover their own voices and their own propensity for success; working with schools and communities to create literacy and service initiatives; giving scholarships to deserving graduating seniors and poetry awards to emerging Maya Poets; incorporating community service and individual responsibility into our arts and literacy initiatives - as Dr. Angelou used her gifts to help lift others. Keeping her name and her legacy alive through our children.
