NEW JERSEY CAMP FOR BLIND CHILDREN INC
The objective of New Jersey Camp for Blind Children Inc. (NJCFBC) “Camp Marcella” is to provide, promote and maintain a recreational, educational and rehabilitative camp primarily for visually impaired children. NJCFBC-Camp Marcella is the State of New Jersey's premier residential summer campground designed specifically for children, teens and adults with blindness, visual impairments and special needs. The camp is located at 27 Durham Road, Rockaway, New Jersey. NJCFBC-Camp Marcella facility is maintained owned by the New Jersey Camp for Blind Children, Inc. (NJCFBC); a Non-Profit organization started in 1947. At that time a casual type of camp facility existed, but for many parents it lacked the advantages of a complete camping experience for children with special needs. So NJCFBC began recruiting the appropriate people for the job in establishing a summer camp for children and teens with special needs. With the physical work and contributions of over 1300 organizations and individuals including the Lions Clubs of New Jersey, Camp Marcella opened its gates that very summer, and has been going strong since! Today Camp Marcella encompasses over 200 acres of woodland surroundings and a clear fish laden lake, with all its facilities designed for the best possible care of visually impaired children, teens and adults. The objective of New Jersey Camp for Blind Children Inc. is to provide, promote and maintain a recreational, educational and rehabilitative camp primarily for children, teens and adults with blindness, visual impairments and special needs.
