We meet them every day. A 75-year-old man who lives alone in a leaky house and barely subsists on $10,000 per year. An elderly woman who has no way to get to the grocery store. A poor senior who has to decide between paying her rent and buying needed medicine. A mom who can't afford to move to a better neighborhood even though her young son is afraid to walk home from school because of the crime in their area. Tens of thousands of people in the Dayton area don't have a clean, safe place to live. But, with God's help, we're changing that. Since 1989, St. Mary Development Corporation has created more than 3,500 affordable housing units. including low-income senior apartments and single-family homes.We help connect more than 800 low-income seniors and nearly 300 families in the Dayton area to critical services such as healthcare, transportation, food assistance, utility assistance and financial education.We work toward the day when every person — especially the economically disadvantaged — has a safe, affordableplace to live.
