SevaChild’s network of over 2000 volunteers travel to remote areas throughout 18 of India’s 29 states identifying and registering children at risk of VADD. Help bring life-saving nutrition, clean drinking water & food relief to those desperately in need. An NGO that was created in 2011, SevaChild’s purpose is to render child aid in India through vitamin A supplementation for at-risk youngsters. Through a network including more than 2000 independent members in 18 of India’s 29 states, SevaChild manages a vitamin A administration program that has grown from serving 15,000 children in 2012 to reaching more than 2,400,000 children in 2019. The girl and her sibling in this photo live in an impoverished community in Dehradun, India. All the families here live in dire conditions: their homes are shacks made of tarps and scrap metal, they collect trash to sell, and the children beg on the street to survive. And they have never set foot in a classroom.
