Today, we introduce you to Fr. Tom Tureman, SDS, who will serve as Provincial with the term beginning June 1st. Born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada Education Highlights: Undergraduate: University of Kentucky in Lexington Graduate Studies: Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, Philosophy Studies (1981-1982) and Washington Theological Union, Washington, DC, Master of Divinity (1983-1987) Ordination: Ordained a Paulist Priest (May 1988) at St. Paul the Apostolic Church (New York, NY). Incardinated to the Salvatorian community in 1996, making his final profession (June 1999) at Queen of Peace Parish (Mesa, AZ) Progression: Fr. Tom was Associate Pastor at Queen of Peace Parish, focusing on social justice and Hispanic ministries from 1997-2000. He moved to Orangevale, CA to serve at Divine Savior Parish (2000-2004), then was assigned to Milwaukee to minister as Asst. Dir. of Missions, then Director of Missions from 2004-2008. Mission work led him to Kentucky (2008-2012) and Arizona (2012-2013) to serve as Mission Director within those dioceses. He stayed in Tucson to serve as administrator at Most Holy Trinity Parish (2013) and pastor since 2013. During his time at MHT Fr. Tom increased the parish awareness of immigration in a vital border diocese through collaboration with the Good Samaritan Program providing water on the border. An avid pilot, Fr. Tom, has used this passion and taken to the skies of Arizona as time permitted by bringing humanitarian items to shelters in Yuma and other areas of the state. Fr Tom participated in the Wright Flight program, a STEM program offered for kids in grades 5/6. Hopes... “We move into an exciting time in the life of our community, both on the national and international level. With a charism that calls us to action, kindness and hope we have a calling that is a gift to the Church. My dream is that we will deepen Blessed Francis Jordan’s vision through social action, collaboration within our Salvatorian Family and the proclamation of God’s word. During his weekly General Audience, Pope Leo XIV reflected on the parable of the Good Samaritan, challenging everyone to not let our busy lives “prevent us from feeling compassion” towards others.
