Evanston in School Music Association

Evanston In-School Music Association presents professional music programs to elementary and middle school students in the Evanston/Skokie schools. Evanston In-School Music Association (EISMA) is dedicated to Inspiring Students, Supporting Local Musicians, and Strengthening Community by presenting professional music programs that bring the joy and appreciation of diverse musical genres to all Evanston K-8 students. EISMA's concerts and accompanying educational materials expose children to the musical expressions of different styles and cultures; teach respect for the skill and craft of making music; build audiences; and inspire the performers of tomorrow. EISMA believes that music is fundamental to a child's education and personal development and that all students in the community deserve equal access to high quality live music performances.EISMA reaches all of the elementary and middle school students of the City of Evanston with an annual Concerts for Kids series of two professional music ensembles, each presenting at least 25 performances. We aim to empower students with knowledge of and appreciation for the diversity and influence of the world's music, enriching their cultural perspective and stimulating their creativity by showcasing a variety of musical genres and instrumentation. Over a nine-year period, students will have the opportunity to hear and participate in 18 diverse professional music programs.
