Las jurisdicciones miembros de UCHAPS se encuentran entre los epicentros de la epidemia urbana del VIH y a menudo estan a la vanguardia de la puesta a prueba de nuevas estrategias de intervencion. Incluyen UCHAPS ha buscado desde su fundacion brindar mayor atencion y recursos a las areas metropolitanas que han enfrentado una carga desproporcionada de infeccion por VIH.
