Sholom Spotlight: Celebrating Leadership and Growth! Join us in celebrating Crystal Houghtaling, our valued Housing Director within our west campus Roitenberg Assisted Living, who recently achieved a major career milestone earning her Assisted Living Director License (LALD). Crystal’s journey into senior care began years ago as an Activities Aid in Memory Care, where she built deep connections with residents, many of whose names she still remembers today. Inspired by the strong, compassionate women in her life who worked in healthcare, she felt called to a career of service. Over the years, she has worked in direct patient care, social work, and now senior care housing, gaining a well-rounded perspective that shapes her leadership style. For Crystal, leadership is about adaptability, empathy, and finding solutions. She believes in setting meaningful goals, continuously learning, and seeking out mentors—something she’s been fortunate to have in Andrea Horvath, a leader she deeply respects. At Sholom, it’s the people, community, and values that make every day fulfilling. Crystal is committed to honoring the unique stories of those she serves, ensuring they feel seen, respected, and valued. When she’s not leading teams and making a difference in senior care, you’ll likely find Crystal running. She can’t wait for warm weather so she can swap her treadmill for outdoor miles on the Dakota Trail! Crystal’s story is one of continuing education, growth, and passion. We’re so grateful for her leadership and the positive impact she continues to make at Sholom. Please join us in congratulating Crystal on this incredible achievement!
