May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! 🎉 To recognize this month, we're highlighting AIA Honolulu (American Institute of Architects, Honolulu Chapter)'s partnership with the National Park Service in commemorating the 10th anniversary of Honouliuli National Historic Site. Honouliuli held roughly 4,400 prisoners of war and civilians, many of Japanese, Korean, and Okinawan descent. This milestone honors a decade of preserving and sharing the stories of those unjustly incarcerated in Hawai‘i during World War II. Through architectural tours, educational events, and community engagement, AIA Honolulu is helping to connect past, present, and future generations to this vital chapter of history.
