We have lost a truly good guy. Uche was past board president, board member, and a dear friend of Work to Ride. He was with us during the hardest of times in our organization and was with us through where we are today. Uche was with us on our first international polo jaunt with the work to ride kids to @5thchukkerpoloclub in Kaduna, Nigeria. Being Nigerian, Uche wanted to honor his native country and dress in his best traditional nigerian clothing when we went to meet the Emir of Katsina. He had his traditional garb dry cleaned, carefully packed and was so excited to meet the Emir. We had quite a crew of people and were traveling to meet the Emir in 2 mini vans. It was hot as heck and everyone was sweating up a storm. Uche decided not to change into his traditionsk garb until we were a little closer to our destination. We stopped for gas along way and Uche went behind the gas station (none of them had traditional american bathrooms, only a hole in the ground, that’s a story for another day) We were waiting for Uche at the pumps and here he comes from behind the gas station with an infectious grin in a one piece white traditional garb that only reached his knees. He says” I didn’t check the dry cleaning tag, this is Sheinelle Ojeh ‘s !!!! So here he is in the middle of a gas station, in the middle of nowhere standing for all the world to see him in his mini dress. That was Uche. (fb)
