Meet Nathan Rouse 🔹   ISEE is excited to feature Nathan Rouse in this week’s ISEE Meet a Member series.    Nathan’s path into explosives engineering began at Missouri S&T, where a fireworks class sparked a shift from electrical to mining engineering. He went on to earn his BS, MS, and PhD in Mining and Explosives Engineering.   Nathan’s career began in Lexington, Kentucky, USA with Morgan Worldwide Consultants. He continued with RESPEC after their acquisition, where he helped build a drill and blast engineering team and supported global due diligence work, including CRH’s acquisition of Lafarge-Holcim assets.   In 2019, he joined Dyno Nobel’s DynoConsult team as Principal Consultant, supporting projects across North America. In 2023, Nathan launched his own business, Thoroughbred Drill and Blast Consultants, providing training, instrumentation, and root cause analysis for complex projects worldwide.   When asked what excites him most about the field, Nathan shared: “Underground blasting. You often can’t see the blast, so you rely on experience, data, and design. It’s problem solving at its core, and I enjoy mentoring engineers through that process.”   Nathan also co-created the BlastMasters video series and is active in ISEE’s Emerging Professionals section. With Memorial Day this Monday, we want to take a moment today to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
