MOKA

Creating Opportunities for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities MOKA is a non-profit organization that serves people with disabilities throughout West Michigan. MOKA was founded in 1978 with a mission to move adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) home from institutions. By 1982, MOKA expanded to 14 homes across West Michigan and the acronym “MOKA” emerged due to the geographic area we serve: Muskegon, Ottawa, Kent, and Allegan Counties. Since then, MOKA has continued to grow in both size and mission. In addition to supporting more than 30 Residential Homes, we provide Supported Employment, Community Supports, Life Skills CLS, and an ABA Autism Program. Our mission is focused on creating opportunities for independence and acceptance in our communities by supporting children and adults with I/DD in making choices, building relationships, sharing places, developing skills, enhancing reputations, and contributing back.
