When Samuel walked through the doors of Beacon House, he was tired—tired of running, tired of fear, and tired of the cycle that addiction had trapped him in. He didn’t trust anyone. But Samuel came to Beacon House ready for change. At first, expressing himself felt impossible. Vulnerability was scary. But slowly, Samuel began to let others in, and he started to feel a part of life again. Every week, groups of Beacon House men participate in something we call Give Back. They don our yellow Beacon House Crew shirts and spend an hour picking up trash from our local beaches and parks, helping make San Pedro a little bit brighter.
