Kansas Honor Flight helped honor a retiring Frankfort teacher known for his patriotism. Garry Kraushaar taught American Government and History for 36 years, including leading his classes in honoring local Heroes on Veterans Day. He also served 7 years in the Kansas National Guard. Flight Leader Jean Caffrey presented Mr. Kraushaar a flag that was raised over Fort McHenry on #KHF102CHARTER in April by Flight Leader Pat Caffrey and a Park Ranger. Raised right! Recent Quinter High School graduate Brooklyn Countryman entered the Kansas Masonic Lodge Essay contest at the local level through Hoxie Masonic Lodge. Her essay was on Kansas Honor Flight and she placed 2nd! The honor came with a $1000 donation to a charitable organization, and Brooklyn of course chose us! Brooklyn says it’s an honor to make this donation. She went to Washington DC last summer through a youth program and it sparked a fire. She also has a neighbor that has served and he has been like a grandfather to her. Brooklyn will be attending Kansas State University in the Fall majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in History and a minor in Leadership.
