UIMA develops utilizes and encourages artistic talent through exhibitions concerts readings lectures and films to serve the cultural needs of our community and city and thereby strengthen cultural understanding and diversity. About Us Proud recipient of the Wynn Kramarsky Freedom of Artistic Expression Grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Upcoming Events Our Story Is One February 16th April 11th 2025 The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art is honored to exhibit Maryam Safajoos painting series on the persecution of Bahais in Iran in an exhibition titled Our Story is One.

The artist's incredible attention to detail is evident in the repeated pattern throughout her skirt, which is created through replicating the shape of Tubman's own nose. From honoring historical figures, to ceramics pioneers like Marva Lee Pitchford-Jolly and Eselean Goree Henderson while celebrating contemporary voices, the show traces connections to African ceramic traditions and global masters such as Ladi Kwali and Magdalene Odundo.
