She was chosen as one of the Outstanding Youth Volunteer award recipients. How have you helped youth find their spark through 4-H? “What's remarkable about 4-H is watching young people discover abilities they never knew they had. I've helped youth find their spark by guiding them toward practical skills that transform how they see themselves. There's this incredible moment when a 4-Her realizes they can create something with their own hands—whether they're confidently threading a needle to repair a garment, safely operating a drill to build their first woodworking project, or proudly serving a meal they've prepared from scratch. These are powerful moments of self-discovery. I've seen shy kids become leaders after mastering a skill they can teach others. What makes this journey so meaningful is watching them connect these practical abilities to real-world confidence. Volunteers come into the 4-H Youth Development Program to support youth and make a difference. The 2024 North Central Region 4-H Volunteer Impact Study found volunteers come into their role looking to make a difference in the lives of youth and in turn benefit themselves. They personally: 97% gain skills they can use in other settings 99% make communities stronger 100% had fun while volunteering 100% made a difference in the lives of youth During the 2025 National Volunteer Week, we will continue to highlight the impact volunteers make on the Nebraska 4-H program.
