Pro Papa Missions America
PRO-PAPA Missions America, Inc. a non profit foundation was founded in May 1996 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania by Sister Laurinda Mayer and Bill Casey, CEO of Conemaugh Health Systems Sister Laurinda had spent a dozen years in Honduras and had returned to Johnstown to raise funds for a private clinic, Clinic Suyapa, to help ease the suffering of those in her community, Pueblo Urraco, Honduras. The town of 5,000 had been badly flooded several times in the past decade. Sister Laurinda has since returned to Honduras. PRO PAPA has since expanded to also oversee a robust scholarship program for Honduran students to assist with the cost of supplies and uniforms. Additionally, PRO PAPA has run many brigades over the years involving medical, dental, and construction.
