Yesterday, we joined Citizen Action of New York to rally outside Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ Brooklyn office to condemn her vote for over $1 trillion in healthcare cuts and $230 billion from SNAP. Communities members shared their stories about how these devastating cuts would affect working families and everyday New Yorkers, and demand that Rep. Malliotakis stops siding with the ultra-rich over the health of her constituents. In the dead of night on May 22, while the public was asleep, House Republicans—including Rep. Nicole Malliotakis—voted to rip healthcare and food benefits away from millions of people. These cuts would strip healthcare coverage from 15 million people by slashing Medicaid and gutting the Affordable Care Act—threatening access to doctors, medicine, and even hospital beds. (fb)
