Nonprofit org providing free bike ed, community programming, & safe cycling advocacy. We also produce the USA's largest bike ride, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. Bike New York empowers New Yorkers to transform their lives and their communities through bicycling. Bike New York's mission is to empower New Yorkers to transform their lives and communities through bicycling. Our vision is to increase ridership, empower youth to lead healthy, productive lives, remove barriers to cycling, and advocate for and expand services to reach more New Yorkers. Bike New York is best known for producing America's largest cycling event, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour; we offer regional rides outside NYC, free local group rides, and free bike education and public safety classes in NYC. Bike New York also provides workforce development and Recycle-A-Bicycle, a community-based bike shop that offers sales and full-service repairs. The bicycles begin as donations and are sold refurbished, typically salvaging 1,800 bicycles annually, diverting about 45,000 pounds of waste.
