Last week Martin Smith LMFT, Clinical Director for Outpatient Services, and Andrew Halpern LPC, Elmwood Site Supervisor were presented with the Chi Sigma Iota Award for Outstanding Clinical Supervisor by the University of St. Joseph's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Center (CMHC) program. We are so proud of their accomplishment! Andrew and Martin lead the Bridge's counseling internship program, providing students with a well-rounded, supportive, and educational environment in which to grow and learn during their time at the Bridge. The internship program is tailored for each student’s needs and allows them to work alongside the rest of the Bridge’s clinical team, gaining invaluable hands-on experience. Both Andrew and Martin also act as mentors to the CMHC interns. One student shared, “Working closely with Martin, he has been nothing but helpful, kind, and supportive. If I ever have a question about a clinical case, or if I am ever doubting myself, Martin’s knowledge and experience always points me in the right direction. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with Martin throughout my internship journey.” Of Andrew, another student said “As a supervisor, Andrew strikes the ideal balance between providing clinical support and guidance, when necessary, but also encouraging his supervisees to build confidence and learn to trust their own clinical intuition. It is this combination that has helped me grow so much both professionally and personally. I am extremely grateful to have had the benefit of not only Andrew’s clinical expertise but also his kindness, patience and encouragement throughout my time at the Bridge.” A huge congratulations to Andrew and Martin – we are incredibly grateful to have you both on our team and as part of the Bridge family!
