Engineering and Science Hall of Fame

The Engineering and Science Hall of Fame is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing and honoring engineers and scientists who have significantly contributed to the benefit of humanity on a global scale. The organization maintains a web-based archive of its inductees to support the continuing education of students, educators, and the public.

Mission

The mission of the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame is to motivate and inspire young people to understand, appreciate, and pursue careers in engineering and science. This is achieved through the recognition of outstanding achievements by engineers and scientists whose work has positively impacted society.

Induction Process

The Hall of Fame inducts new members through a selection process that identifies individuals whose work has made landmark contributions to their field. These inductees are honored at an annual ceremony, which includes presentations by the inductees or their representatives to inspire students and educators.

Notable Inductees

Some notable inductees of the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame include C. Harry Knowles, known for his inventions in barcode technology and semiconductor design; Dr. Shuji Nakamura, recognized for his invention of the blue light-emitting diode (LED); and Clarence "Kelly" Johnson, celebrated for his innovative aircraft designs such as the SR-71 Blackbird. Other distinguished inductees include figures like George Washington Carver, Nikola Tesla, and the Wright Brothers.

Ceremonies and Events

The organization hosts annual induction ceremonies and events, including lectures for high school STEM students. These events aim to encourage future generations to pursue careers in engineering and science by highlighting the achievements and impacts of current and past inductees.

Organization Details

The Engineering and Science Hall of Fame operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, meaning donations to the organization are tax deductible. The organization is part of the broader effort to promote education and appreciation of engineering and scientific achievements that benefit humanity.
