
United States Campaign for Burma

Our mission is to empower and strengthen the role and capicity of the agents of democratic reform in Burma, including democracy activists, civil society actors, human rights defenders and ethnic nationalities who struggle with unvielding dedication and sacnfice to end the various forms of military rule and created apolitical system that guarantees democracy, human rights, rule of law independence of the judiciary equality and ethnic rights by peaceful means.

United States Campaign for Burma
The United States Campaign for Burma (USCB) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting freedom, democracy, and human rights in Burma (also known as Myanmar). It evolved from the Free Burma Coalition and is focused on empowering grassroots activists globally to end the military dictatorship in Burma.
Mission
The mission of the USCB is to build a broad-based coalition of grassroots and institutional support for freedom in Burma. It aims to strengthen the position of the democratically elected National League for Democracy and to inform citizens, media, and policymakers about Burma's political, social, and economic crisis. Key objectives include:
- Support for Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD: Strengthening the position of the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Aung San Suu Kyi and the National League for Democracy.
- International Intervention: Advocating for international intervention to address human rights abuses and promote democracy in Burma.
- Awareness and Policy Advocacy: Informing grassroots citizens, international media, and policymakers about the situation in Burma to shape effective policies.
Activities
- Public Education: USCB conducts public education campaigns to raise awareness about human rights violations and the political situation in Burma.
- Leadership Development: The organization provides leadership development initiatives to empower grassroots activists and Burmese dissidents-in-exile.
- Advocacy: USCB engages in advocacy efforts at local, national, and international levels to influence U.S.-Burma policy.
- Research and Documentation: The organization documents human rights abuses, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, often collaborating with local partners to provide timely information.
Partnerships and Structure
USCB is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. It establishes and strengthens partnerships with like-minded organizations and local partners on the ground in Burma. The board of directors is internally appointed, and anyone can participate by signing up for updates and participating in campaigns.
Following the 2021 coup d'état in Burma, USCB intensified its efforts to provide support and raise awareness about the escalating human rights situation. With partnerships like the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC), USCB works to amplify voices from impacted communities and provide aid to those affected by the crisis.
