JUMPSTART LABS SUNSET ANNOUNCEMENT Incorporated in March 2008 by Shawn Landres and Joshua Avedon, Jumpstart Labs concluded its operations on December 31, 2024, and will wind down early in 2025. Jumpstart’s library of publications, including the field-defining Jewish Innovation Ecosystem & Jewish Innovation Economy reports, will be preserved and remain freely available at Stanford University’s Berman Archive, a premier repository for original research and policy publications produced outside traditional academia and publishing. The Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy remains the primary home of the National Studies of American Jewish and American Religious Giving. The groundbreaking Connected to Give series of publications will be available from both Berman and IU. Jumpstart’s fiscal sponsorship program concluded during the 2023-24 fiscal year after nearly 15 years of providing charitable fiduciary oversight to emerging nonprofit initiatives. All active sponsored projects moved to new platforms or to their own tax-exempt entities. Jumpstart has been a philanthropic research and design lab committed to enabling creative changemakers—philanthropists and institutional leaders alike—to realize their visions and advance the common good. Originally founded amid the social innovation boom of the early 2000s, Jumpstart worked within and beyond the Jewish community and interreligious world, often serving as a bridge and translator across philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, faith traditions, civic institutions, and academia. The board and staff of Jumpstart Labs extend their deepest gratitude to their partners, supporters, and the broader community for their unwavering support throughout our journey. As Jumpstart concludes this chapter, the team remains confident that the foundations it has built will continue to inspire and drive innovation in the philanthropic sector. (fb)

In January 2006, Synagogue 3000 (S3K) and Emergent Village convened Christian and Jewish pastors, rabbis, scholars, and leaders. That meeting sparked the S3K Jewish Emergent Initiative, Shawn Landres's formative Sh'ma Journal essay on Jewish emergence, the S3K-@Hadar Emerging Jewish Communities research report, and ultimately Jumpstart Labs itself. The Jewish Emergent Network has continued to convene seven rabbi-led communities, four of which were part of the S3K JEI - IKAR, The Kavana Cooperative, Lab/Shul (then Storahtelling), and Romemu.
