The Sam-Il-Jeol (March 1 Movement) Essay Contest, hosted by the Ryu Family Foundation and supported by the Korean American Association of Greater New York (KAAGNY), is now open as of February 1, 2025. This contest encourages participants to deeply reflect on the historical significance of Sam-Il-Jeol and explore how its lessons can be applied to today’s world. Eligibility: Students residing in 13 Northeastern U.S. states: CT, DC, DE, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT, VA Elementary Group: Grades 2-6 Middle/High School Group: Grades 7-12 Submission: Participants will submit an essay of up to two pages on a given topic. Prizes: Winners will receive prizes of up to $1,000. Deadline: Apply by February 20, 2025, or before the first 40 applications are received.
