FRIENDS OF PS169

Follow Message Edit

PS 169 is a multi-site Special Education school for emotionally disturbed children, many from economically disadvantaged homes, and many autistic. These children have been unsuccessful in previous educational environments. The goal is to prepare students to return to mainstream schools. The Friends offer tutoring and supply these children with books and a good understanding of their assignments. We raise money to send as many of these children to Camp Ramapo where the counselors are specially trained. Getting the kids out of their surroundings and introducing them to swimming, animals, arts & crafts among other activities has shown to help these children to connect to their environment. We have been an intricate aspect to these children and the school for over 30 years.
