Barnwell County Animal Shelter Foundation
The Barnwell County Animal Shelter Foundation is a non-profit group dedicated to the financial and programmatic support of the Barnwell County Animal Shelter. Its primary goals are as follows: 1. To improve health and overall well-being of animals housed at the Shelter. 2. To improve the physical facilities so that more animals can be housed in a clean, safe environment. 3. To reduce the number of homeless dogs and cats through promotion of spaying and neutering of all pets. Established in late 2022 with the help of a seed grant from Best Friends Animal Society, we set out to reduce the number of feral cats and community cat colonies in our rural county. As of August 2023, we have successfully handled over 800 community cats.
