
Alabama Center for Architecture
The Alabama Center for Architecture aims to advance the enjoyment of the architecture and design through engagement, education and collaboration. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE FIELD OF ARCHITECTURE. THEY DO THIS THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS, EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND SEMINARS FOR CHILDREN, STUDENTS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

Alabama Center for Architecture
The Alabama Center for Architecture (ACA) is a nonprofit organization based in Birmingham, Alabama, dedicated to advancing the enjoyment of architecture and design through a variety of programs and community engagement initiatives. Established with the intent to educate the public about architecture, ACA plays a vital role in fostering appreciation for the built environment and the architectural profession.
Mission
The ACA's mission is to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of architecture and design among the general public. This is achieved through collaboration, education, and engagement with individuals and communities across Alabama.
Educational Programs
The center offers several notable educational programs aimed at different demographics:

dreamARCHITECTURE: An annual art competition designed for K-5 students, encouraging young participants to explore and think creatively about their built environment.

N2 ARCHITECTURE!: A program that brings architects into local schools to educate students about the architectural profession and the importance of the built environment.

Scholarships: ACA is committed to investing in the future of the architecture profession by providing scholarships to outstanding architecture students, thus supporting their educational and professional development.
Facilities
The ACA is housed in a historic building that was renovated in 2013 to enhance its functionality as a community space. The facility includes a private conference room equipped with audiovisual capabilities, a catering and bar area, a mezzanine, and exhibit/gallery space. This flexible venue can accommodate a variety of events, including corporate meetings, classes, gallery exhibits, and fundraisers.
Membership and Partnerships
The ACA collaborates with various professional firms and organizations within the field of architecture. Membership is structured into different tiers, including Corporate Titanium, Gold, and Steel memberships, enabling a wide range of firms to participate in and support ACA’s mission.

Through its programs, the Alabama Center for Architecture significantly impacts the local community by enhancing public knowledge and appreciation of architectural practices. By partnering with educational institutions and various community stakeholders, ACA works to inspire the next generation of architects and informed citizens.
