Joseph and other malnourished young boyswalked thousands of miles through deserts mountainsdiseaseand predators most with only the clothes on their backs. After a brief time in Ethiopian refugee camps Communist armed militia and tanks chased the boys across the River Gilo. Those not eaten by crocodiles or drowned again journeyedthrough Sudan and into Kenya.
