Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church

History

The church traces its origins to the influx of Slovak Lutheran immigrants who settled in Chicago. The Spolok Evanjelickjch Slovåkov (Slovak Evangelical Society) was founded in 1892 under the leadership of Gustav Krno. The society aimed to establish religious services for Slovak Lutherans, which led to the organization of Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church on October 8, 1893. Initially, services were held at the German School on Bickerdike and Superior Streets.

Developments

Over the years, the church has experienced significant growth and transformation. It moved into a new building located at 5106 North LaCrosse Avenue in 1950. The church continues to provide full ministries and conducts worship services in both English and Slovak, serving as a cultural and religious center for its members.
