Recently, CICF joined community foundation leaders from across the country in Washington, D.C. to advocate for philanthropy policy that supports charitable giving, donor-advised funds, and the communities we serve. As part of the Community Foundation Awareness Initiative, we met with lawmakers to share how community foundations play a unique role—serving both as fundraisers and grantmakers—and why current policy discussions need to reflect that dual mission. We also emphasized the importance of protecting donor freedom, addressing concerns around proposed regulations, and ensuring tools like donor-advised funds and IRA charitable rollovers remain effective for local impact. We’re proud to represent Central Indiana in this important national conversation—and even more proud to stand alongside other foundations fighting to strengthen community-driven philanthropy. (fb)
