In Douglas County Nevada, an $18.75 million investment is strengthening the heart of the community. The Douglas County Community and Senior Center, built in 2014, serves residents of all ages with a senior center, preschool, gym and fitness facilities, meeting spaces, a community health clinic, and more. Funded through municipal bonds, the center also provides vital emergency shelter, as seen during the 2021 Caldor wildfire. Its Adult Day Club supports individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s, giving caregivers critical respite. The facility’s services have helped the county cut long-term care costs in half—an investment in care, connection, and community resilience. Geoffry is an emerging leader in public administration with a passion for local government and community service, rooted in a family legacy of public service. He currently serves as the Budget and Purchasing Specialist for the City of Shawnee, Kansas, where he contributes to municipal budgeting, financial reporting, and departmental improvement initiatives. Geoffry is currently pursuing an MPA from the University of Kansas School of Public Affairs and Administration, with an emphasis in Local and County Management.
