Today on National Legacy Day™, a celebration of people who have shaped our present, Brooke USA celebrates our founder, Dorothy Brooke, a woman of extraordinary moral fortitude and kindness. The defining moment in Dorothy's life came when she arrived in Cairo with her husband, Brigadier Geoffrey Brooke, in 1930. From this moment on, her life was dedicated to the welfare of working horses, donkeys, and mules. Despite many obstacles and objections, her determination to make a difference ensured that the Brooke family of charities helps working equines and their owners everywhere. Dorothy worked for her charity until her death in 1955. Her legacy continues today, after more than 90 years, and there is no better proof than Brooke USA, founded just 10 years ago.
