Did you know that Thomas Cole took US citizenship in 1834 at the age of 33? Most people are surprised to learn this! On Sunday, 2024-2025 Fellow Cait Gurley will discuss how Cole’s identity as an American influenced his artwork, specifically the painting Consummation of Empire from his series The Course of Empire. Come hear this talk which takes place during the 200th anniversary of Thomas Cole’s first trip up the Hudson River, a trip that launched the first American art movement!
