In Nepal, the Jhuwani Community Library READ Center is once again evolving to meet local needs—this time by creating a space of care and dignity for senior citizens. In partnership with the Jhuwani Community Women’s Savings and Credit Cooperative and supported by the local Ward Office, the Jhuwani Community Library has launched a dedicated rest room for elders: a cool, quiet, air-conditioned space designed to offer comfort, connection, and health services to elderly community members. This community-led initiative is more than just a room—it’s a testament to how READ Centers are living, breathing spaces that grow with their communities. Jhuwani's new space will provide a range of services including monthly health check-ups and opportunties for socializing and connection. The space will be jointly managed by the library, cooperative, and ward office.
