MISSION STATEMENT Providing pre-school education to the most needy children in Pangasinan Province, Philippine Islands (P.I.) and in Bandundu Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). In the P.I. preschools are available, so in the P.I. support will be given to working parents who need financial support. The P.I has not developed as fast as other parts of South East Asia, and there are areas of true poverty. Providing education is the first step in poverty elimination. In the DRC, preschools exist only in cities for the more wealthy, so our efforts are to help the local people establish these schools and support them with school supplies and teachers. Local leadership for these preschools in the DRC are in place.However: Effective education involves much more than books and teachers. A more holistic approach is needed. Attention to the health, nutritional, emotional, spiritual, economic, and safety needs of students and their parents (indeed, the whole village), things we take for granted, greatly increases the value of educational investments.P&C Endowment prefers to work with other agencies and organizations which have specific missions directed at these non-education needs. When available, these organizations will be called upon. However, in the DRC, this is very often not possible. Many (most?) organization left the DRC during the First (1996-97) and/or Second (1998-2002) Congo Wars, leaving the average Congolese living in true third world conditions, after the brutalizing effect of the wars, with no way that they can see to improve their condition. P&C Endowment will therefore include in its mission: a) Advanced education scholarship programs for qualified and deserving students.b) Establishing a micro-loan program for small industry and agricultural programs. c) Engage in sanitation and clean water programs. d) Transportation issues.e) Rehabilitation of buildings and services destroyed in the wars.Our goal is to meet their needs using (when-ever possible) local material, and with technology that the local citizens can take ownership of. This will enhance the probability of continuity and ongoing maintenance of the projects.Please help us in this mission.
