🌧️ A bright spot for a rainy day! 🌟 Thanks to Quinnipiac University students and the Tap Out Hunger campaign, over $11,000 in unused meal points was turned into food staples for our New Haven Shelter—and the Hamden Food Bank also received support! This marks the 5th year Tap Out Hunger has benefitted Columbus House, with an incredible $67,000 raised over five years. Students also gave generously through the annual Be Kind, Leave Your Food Behind initiative, donating non-perishables as they cleared out for summer break. #WellnessWednesday Volunteer Sam led two sound bath meditation sessions this month for guests in our Medical Respite Program and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Sam is now working with our wonderful Yale New Haven Hospital Medical Respite Nurse, Mary Pat, to make these visits a regular part of the program. Sound bath meditation uses calming vibrations to relax the nervous system, ease anxiety, and support deep rest and healing. Research shows that even a single session can reduce stress and improve sleep—benefits that are especially meaningful for our clients on their journey toward stability.
