[April 11, 2024; Glenwood Springs, Colorado] A mother and her infant son were involved in a head-on crash that caused flames to ignite under their vehicle. #CarnegieHero Alec Christian Larson, 27, of Rifle, Colorado, was in his work van when he saw the crashed vehicle blocking both lanes of a highway and decided to take action. Larson opened the driver’s door and helped the woman out of the vehicle. He returned to the vehicle and climbed in the rear of the vehicle as flames intensified. [Jan. 1, 2024; Palm Springs, Florida] A 21-year-old man was pumping fuel at a Florida gas station when a man assaulted him with a serrated blade. #CarnegieHero Lynn William Segebart was inside the gas station’s convenience store when he heard a loud scream and immediately ran to help the man. Segebart intervened and positioned himself on the assailant’s back before the two started to struggle. The assailant bit Segebart after he tried to disarm him and Segebart responded by headbutting him. Segebart successfully managed to disarm the man and threw the weapon 10 feet away.
