Optimist International

The organization originated in Louisville, Kentucky, where it was established to unify local and regional clubs focused on serving their communities. The first Optimist Club was founded in Buffalo, New York, in 1911. Optimist International received its first official charter in 1916, awarded to the Downtown Indianapolis club.
