The CORE PURPOSE of the Highmark Caring Place is to make a difference in the lives of grieving children. Because the death of a family member is devastating in the life of a child, turning the child’s whole world upside-down, and becoming the defining moment of the child’s life. And because caring, understanding and support from those around the grieving child can make an important difference in how that child copes with the impact of a death. HIGHMARK CARING PLACE MISSION: • RAISE AWARENESS of the needs of grieving children; • PROVIDE PROGRAMS to address those needs; • EQUIP THE COMMUNITY to support those children who have experienced the death of a loved one.
